Questions

The honest answers.

Can I see a first night on PikPal in one minute?
Yes. This iPhone walkthrough starts with a Taste Passport, then moves through Decision Mode, pinning, stamping, the Library, and Explore. It is captured from the working app rather than a concept animation.
How does PikPal learn what I like?
Your Taste Passport gives PikPal a useful starting signal during onboarding. Choose the name friends will see, pick at least three favorites, rank titles you already know, and save a few things for later. Nothing is locked in; you can keep refining it as you watch.
Do we have to watch at the same time?
No. PikPal tracks episode progress, lets a friend send a nudge, and keeps later takes behind a spoiler wall until someone catches up. Discussions live on title and episode threads; they are not private group chats, and a public thread can include people outside your friends.
How does PikPal pick for more than one person?
In Decision Mode, choose All, Shows, or Movies, select friends under Watching with, set the mood, and optionally narrow the streaming services. PikPal uses the selected group’s taste to return explained suggestions.
Can I control what PikPal recommends?
Yes. Explore can surface Friends are into, Friends recommended, More like your favorites, Popular tonight, Watchers like you, and AI picks for you whenever each rail has results. The walkthrough shows catalog search across All, Movies, and TV Shows, then four populated rails and the Preference Center for friend filters, score and friend-count thresholds, excluded genres, availability, region, services, and per-friend overrides. Some controls shape a specific friend rail rather than every recommendation.
What happens after we pick something?
Pin the movie or exact episode so the plan stays easy to find. PikPal shows regional provider availability and opens a TMDB/JustWatch regional watch-options page; it does not promise a provider’s title-level deep link or play video itself. After watching, you can stamp the moment and join the title or episode thread.
How do I organize or import my Library?
The walkthrough shows the everyday Library controls: find a title’s action menu, scan the full collection, then filter by Not Started, Watching, Watched, or Ranked. Import is a separate guided flow inside PikPal for Letterboxd’s ratings, watchlist, watched, and diary export or IMDb’s ratings export; there is no manual file picker.
Can I recommend a title directly to a friend?
Yes. Open a title, choose Recommend, select one or more friends, set it to Private or Public, and add an optional note. Private recommendations are limited to the sender and recipients. Public ones may also appear in friends’ feeds, while recipients can find them in Friends recommended and their Social Queue.
Who can see my activity?
Contacts access is opt-in, and Watchers like you uses privacy-safe taste signals rather than exposing a list of viewer profiles. Recommendation visibility is explicitly Private or Public; public title and episode threads can include non-friends. You can block or report accounts and delete your account.
Where can I get PikPal, and is it free?
PikPal is free on the App Store for iPhone. Android is next—email [email protected] for a launch update.
